The Roy Residence project, located in Saint-Sulpice, consists of the complete reconstruction of a 1990s home. Starting from scratch, this new iteration adopts a contemporary architectural style, both in its volumes and in its choice of materials.

The main façade is organized around a base of neutral-toned clay brick, topped with a warmer-finished CanExel volume. The insertion of metal elements between openings—coordinated with the framing and flashings—adds rhythm to the composition, bringing depth and dynamism.

Upon entry, the vestibule, garage access, and a partial view of the staircase leading to the upper floor are brought together beneath a skylight in a double-height space, bathing the central area in natural light. The living room, aligned along the same axis, offers an unobstructed view of the backyard. A three-sided fireplace acts as a pivot between the living room and dining area, maintaining the fluidity of the floor plan. The kitchen, designed for a large family, combines compactness, ergonomics, and generous work surfaces, with wide circulation zones.

The addition of a sunken courtyard creates a smooth transition from the basement to the backyard, passing through the existing maple trees. This courtyard also brings abundant natural light into the family space, helping to create a welcoming and bright atmosphere.

This project embodies a complete transformation, with each space designed in harmony with daily life, while emphasizing natural light, connection to the landscape, and a restrained yet expressive materiality.
