UNIT
COMPETITION - URBAN INSTALLATION
On the occasion of the inauguration of its brand new site, Espace 67, the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau decided to launch a call for projects in partnership with the environmental design program of the School of design from UQAM. The objective was to conceptualize a work serving as a welcome device at the entrance to the park.
Our thinking was based on the concept of unity, aiming to understand the environment and promote reunification. This led us to propose a hybrid object between street furniture and installation, paying homage to the geodesic principle initiated by Buckminster Fuller, more precisely to the connector of the dome as an object in its own right.
The installation allows use on a human scale and is intended for an audience of all ages, which increases its potential for appropriation and offers symbolic interaction during the gatherings and events that enliven the park throughout the seasons.
Our proposal was selected and carried out, to the delight of users of Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal!
