DE CORDES EN ARBRES
FROM ROPES TO TREES
At the end of the Mamu Metuetau design charrette, this project had a dual objective: to propose a concept for the future redevelopment of a primary school playground in northern Quebec and to build a fun installation for the students. All aspects had to be taken into account for maximum and harmonious use of space.
We envisaged the redevelopment in the form of a course extending from the entrance to the end of the schoolyard, passing through a series of obstacles such as aerial ropes courses, to ultimately resulting in a green outdoor classroom.
The fun and rhythmic modules encourage young people to hold on, climb, hang and exercise while having fun!
The landscaping is inspired by the forests of the North Shore, notably through the selection of plants. The ground is made up of tundra, cork, sand and vegetation, while the entertainment installations are made of assemblages of tree trunks and ropes, all built with natural materials that are part of ancestral Innu culture .
Our proposal was selected by the jury and received an honorable mention for its sensitivity to the context and its creativity.
